Doha, Qatar – September 2025
Qatar could be preparing for a new era of live entertainment. Sphere Entertainment, the US-based company behind the iconic Las Vegas Sphere, has officially secured trademarks for “Sphere Doha” and “Sphere Qatar”, approved last week by Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The trademarks cover a wide range of live experiences, including concerts, cinema screenings, theatrical productions, esports tournaments, sports events, and cultural showcases. While no official project has been announced, the registrations highlight Qatar as a potential destination for Sphere’s innovative entertainment concept.
The Sphere Experience
The Las Vegas Sphere is a landmark for immersive entertainment. Its 111-metre LED-wrapped exterior and state-of-the-art interior technology transform performances into fully immersive experiences, seating nearly 20,000 spectators.
For Doha, this move sparks imagination: could the capital one day host a venue that blends art, technology, and performance like never before?
What This Means for Qatar
Qatar is steadily emerging as a global hub for live events, from concerts to cultural showcases and world-class sports. The new Sphere trademarks signal future possibilities, suggesting that Doha is firmly on the radar of international entertainment innovators.
Even if a Sphere venue is not yet confirmed, the idea of one illuminating Doha’s skyline reflects the city’s ambition, creativity, and commitment to cutting-edge entertainment.
